# Filter your view by portfolio, region, or service provider

> How to use the top-bar global filters to scope dashboards and lists to specific portfolios.

Global filters live just below the top bar and scope what you're looking at — your dashboards and lists — to a specific portfolio, region, service provider, or time period. Set them once and they carry across the pages where they apply.

<Note>
  Global filters aren't restricted to a particular role — they appear for anyone on a page where they apply (for example, the Portfolio, Tickets, or Spending pages).
</Note>

## What you can filter by

The filter row shows up to four controls:

| Filter | What it scopes to |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Period** | A month range — the time window for the data on the page. |
| **Portfolio** | One or more of your portfolios. |
| **Service Provider** | One or more service providers. |
| **Region** | One or more regions. |

Select a control to open its menu, choose one or more values, and the page updates to match.

## Where they apply

The filters appear on portfolio and spending views and adjust automatically to the page you're on:

* **Portfolio**, **Service Provider**, and **Region** are hidden on the property detail page and on the Tools, Insights, and Admin pages.
* **Period** is hidden on the Tools, Insights, and Admin pages.

When none of the filters apply to the current page, the filter row doesn't appear.
