# Share a dashboard view

> How to copy a dashboard link and send it to a colleague.

When you open a report, you can copy a link to it and send it to a colleague so they can open the same dashboard. This is a **consultant** feature, and the recipient needs Insights access of their own to open the link.

## Copy a share link

    Open the dashboard you want to share. See [Open an analytics dashboard](/insights/open-a-dashboard).

  <Step title="Copy the link">
    Select **Copy Share Link** at the top of the report panel. The link is copied to your clipboard, and a "Link copied to clipboard!" confirmation appears.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it">
    Paste the link into an email or message to your colleague.

  The share link points to the dashboard's base address. It always opens the report's default view — it doesn't carry any filter selections you may have made inside the dashboard. If your colleague needs a particular scope, tell them which filters to apply once the dashboard opens. See [Filter a dashboard](/insights/filter-a-dashboard).
