# Understand your role and what you can access

> What the Consultant, Client, and Service Provider roles can each see and do in LiftAI.

What you can see and do in LiftAI depends on your **role**. Your organization
assigns your role; you cannot change it yourself. There are three main roles plus
an optional **Group Admin** capability.

## The three roles

### Consultant

Consultants are the power users of LiftAI. They manage multiple client portfolios
and have the broadest access. A Consultant can:

* Triage everything that needs attention from the **Work Queue** — the Consultant
  home page. See [Triage your Work Queue](/work-queue/triage-your-work-queue).
* View the **Portfolio** dashboard and open individual **property** pages.
* Work with **Tickets**, including ticket actions, data status, and downloading
  ticket files.
* Review **Spending** (invoices), take actions on invoices, and see property links.
* View **Contracts** and **Compliance**, and edit contracts and elevators.
* Use the **Insights** dashboards.
* Use **universal search** and upload documents.
* Review documents **Lift AI extracts** from uploaded PDFs before they become records.
  See [Review AI-extracted documents](/documents/ai-extracted-documents).
* Ask the **Lift AI assistant**.

### Client

Clients are building owners and managers who view their own properties. A Client can:

* View the **Portfolio** dashboard.
* View **Tickets** and download ticket files.
* View **Spending** (invoices). {/* VERIFY: Spending is visible to clients only when the clientPortalSpending feature flag is enabled for their client group (menuGuardPredicate in SideBarLayout.tsx). */}
* View **Contracts**.

Clients do not have the editing, invoice-action, search, upload, or assistant
capabilities that Consultants have.

### Service Provider

The Service Provider role is minimal today and does not include the Portfolio,
Tickets, Spending, Contracts, or Compliance destinations. If you are a Service
Provider and expect more access, [submit a support request](/support/submit-a-support-request).

## Group Admin

**Group Admin** is an additional capability layered on top of your role. Group
Admins manage users and accounts for their organization and see the **Admin**
destination in the sidebar. Not every Consultant or Client is a Group Admin.

  If a destination or button described in the help center does not appear for you,
  it is most likely gated by your role. See
